BEFRIENDERS


Clough Hapunda values RELIABILITY. We aim to provide reliable Befrienders who provide a quality service with honesty, compassion, dignity, and respect with a touch of professionalism. The role involves providing companionship and developing a relationship with vulnerable clients.

The role includes:
  1. Provide practical support, e.g. taking them shopping, escort to appointments, assisting with some tasks like ironing, cooking, etc.
  2. Alleviate loneliness by paying them visits, alleviate isolation by suggesting and encouraging integration into the community
  3. Advocate for the client when necessary in the following; health, leisure, culture, personal safety, etc.
  4. Be aware of the boundaries in Befriending
  5. Contact Clough Hapunda and relevant agencies if you are concerned for the Befriendee’s safety, health and welfare
  6. Promote independence and wellbeing. Enable them to pursue their goals by supporting them to access relevant information and giving them positive encouragement
  7. Be aware of safeguarding issues
  8. Write and submit regular reports about the progression of the relationship, positive changes, concerns, etc.
  9. Ability to commit for 6 months+, etc.

To be considered as a befriender, you will have:
  • A DBS check
  • Two Professional References obtained
  • A trackable employment record without gaps
  • Willing to undergo training
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally at all levels
  • Experience as a Befriender or Care Worker an added advantage
